LOST CANBERRA TRIBE

A newspaper clipping from 1927 about a report dating back to approximately 1837 discrediting Dr John Lhotsky's (1795?-1866?)(bio here) assumption and published declaration in 1834, that there was no evidence of aboriginal occupation on the Limestone Plains (present day Canberra). In this article the reminiscences of an early settler estimated the Aboriginal population as being between 400-500 people.
