The first squatter on the Limestone Plains of present day Canberra, Joshua John Moore (1790-1864)(bio) makes claim on his Acton property in 16/12/1826:
"The land, which I wish to purchase, Is situated at Canberry on the E. Bank of the River, which waters the Limestone Plains, above its junction with the Murrumbeeja, adjoining the grant of Mr. Robert Campbell".
